Lector Writer's &
Performance Art Residency
Live, Visit, Write, Read, be Heard...
Lector offers temporary lodging located within a few miles from our intimate stage in downtown Tampa, Florida.
In addition to this, we provide local and non-local artists a modest residency space to live and create in for a few weeks and up to one month. Selected artists are given the option to perform at least once at Lector during their stay.
We welcome artists from across the country and abroad who are otherwise underrepresented, particularly creators within the queer community, women + femme, people of color, GSM, and/or disabled persons with emerging or established careers and a record of creating original work. Due to Tampa's long history as a point of artistic exchange between NYC/Brooklyn and Cuba we are also excited to see such applicants who hail from these regions.
Rolling admissions enable us to accommodate artists at intermittent times throughout the year. Proposals are reviewed periodically and response time is one month.

Visiting Artist May
Libbi Ponce is an Ecuadorian-American artist living and working in Tampa, Fl. She constructs videos, installations, sculptures, and performances that serve as a reprocessing of her first generation immigrant experience. Ponce will be creating a new video installation and performance in one or more of Lector Social Club's spaces.

Visiting Artist April
Eli Arbor is a rapper and producer from Rochester New York. He will be working on his upcoming project, “A Place You Can’t Find”, which explores the Black American identity, through the sounds and images we consider mythologically American.

Visiting Artist MARCH
During AWP we will be hosting the Philadelphia based poet, actor, and single mother, Megan Gillespie.
Gillespie's poetry has appeared in The Florida Review, New Delta Review, and Cimarron Review. Her honors include fellowships from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the Millay Colony for the Arts. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. By day, she is an educator, businesswoman, and a mom.
Visiting Artist February
We are excited to host Laura Eliason at Lector's Residency Space in Mid-February 2018!
Laura Eliason is a Brooklyn-based illustrator and maker whose work is commissioned throughout the USA, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Canada, and Brazil. Her recent projects have been shown in a number of solo and group exhibits hosted by the Workshop Gallery Artist's Foundation, and Chashama and Rekover Projects in New York. Elaison is the recipient of the Dolores Quinn award from Drexel University, a finalist in Irish Fashion Innovation Awards, and was chosen for a special exhibition at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

We are proud to announce that before heading to the Key West Literary Seminar, JD Scott, will christen the Lector Residency mid-Jan 2018!
JD Scott is a writer, editor, and educator. Recent and forthcoming publications include Best American Experimental Writing, Best New Poets, Denver Quarterly, Prairie Schooner, Salt Hill, Sonora Review, The Pinch, Ninth Letter, Tampa Review, The Atlas Review, Apogee, Winter Tangerine, and elsewhere.
Recent accolades include attending the Poetry Foundation's inaugural Poetry Incubator and being awarded residencies at both the Millay Colony and Writers at the Eyrie.
We are honoured to play host to the delightfully twisted words and ideations of this incredible artist.
